Description
An ongoing research project to develop limestone as a material for sculpture, buildings, and pigments.
The ultimate aim is to create carbon-negative limestone from waste concrete, solar, and other non-polluting sources.
Limestone objects are grown underwater in an electro-chemical process similar to the origin of life. The resulting objects are colored by their environment - cream and white limestones, red irons, green coppers, and blue algaes.
The sculpture acts as a form of exploring the mechanical/structural material limits of the limestone, as well as serving as a vehicle for developing colored stones and other one-off processes.
